Both schemes will be implemented after the transition period ends on 31 December 2020. They aim to ensure continuity to the regulation of CO2 emissions from new cars and vans, and also from new heavy-duty vehicles, when they are first registered in the UK.
These two closely related consultations from the Department of Transport both run from 10 July until 21 August 2020.
