What is Heart of Greenstead?

Heart of Greenstead is a key part of the £18.2 million Town Deal Funding awarded to Colchester.

Colchester City Council are working closely with the Greenstead community and its partners (including Essex County Council and the NHS) to create a new multiuse community hub, alongside safer and more attractive public spaces, and up to 139 high-quality affordable homes.

The scheme will aim to make walking and cycling choices easier and safer, 700 bicycles will be given to local people to help connect Greenstead with the city centre.   

Community consultation and engagement is a fundamental part of the Heart of Greenstead project, we are engaging with residents throughout the process to ensure that we are delivering schemes that are in line with what the community needs.
