What will the project do to help with anti-social behaviour, litter and fly tipping in the area?

Alongside the Town Deal funding, we have also been awarded some Safer Streets funding to help tackle these issues in Greenstead.

Fly tipping

A neighbourhood warden has been appointed who is working with the local community to reduce fly tipping, they are also educating residents about the consequences of fly tipping and how they can report new incidents to the council. We are also working hard to reduce graffiti and have already removed over 20 graffiti tags from various locations.

Anti-social behaviour

To help tackle anti-social behaviour, CCTV cameras and signs have been installed and street lamps which have been reported as broken have been allocated for repair. The fire service have been made aware of fire-setter hotspots and we will also be using a mobile CCTV unit in various locations across Greenstead to monitor anti-social behaviour.

Reducing crime

As part of the Heart of Greenstead scheme, we will be working with partners including Essex Police to look at how we can reduce crime through the design of the new public space. For example, installing better lighting, adding more CCTV and street furniture that is less susceptible to vandalism.
