What you can do

Biodiversity and green space
In Colchester, there are several country parks and local nature reserves that you can access to explore nature and get active. You can also volunteer to help conserve these valuable spaces with organisations such as:
- The Conservation Volunteers (TCV)
- Essex Wildlife Trust
- Colchester Countryside Volunteer Rangers (CCVR)
- Volunteering in Colchester's parks
Private gardens are also valuable green spaces for wildlife. There are plenty of ways for you to make your garden wildlife friendly such as installing nest boxes for birds, creating a compost heap and planting flowers and trees. Find out more ideas on the Essex Wildlife Trust website. You can also take part in Council tree planting events which take place every year through the Colchester Woodland and Biodiversity Project.
