Our current social and affordable housing development sites.

All of our current and planned council-owned homes are, and will be, managed by Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) the Council-owned Arm’s Length Management Organisation (ALMO).

Our new developments are being delivered by Colchester Amphora Homes Ltd (CAHL).

CAHL’s commitment to mixed-tenure housebuilding ensures all developments incorporate 30% affordable homes alongside 70% private market homes. All profits are returned to Colchester Borough Council for reinvestment into core services.

Military Road

 

A collection of eight, 1 & 2 bedroom apartments and 2 bedroom houses, designed to Future Homes 2025 principles and providing comfortable living, on-site parking and amenity areas.

Hardings Close, Aldham

 

The transformation of a current garage site into two 3-bed and two 2-bed homes featuring gardens and parking. Expected to become available in Spring/Summer 2021.

Buffett Way, Colchester

 

The transformation of a former garage site into six 2-bed homes featuring gardens and off-site parking. This is expected to become available in Summer 2021.

Scarfe Way, Colchester

 

The transformation of a former garage site into six 2-bed homes will become available in 2021 – featuring parking and garden areas.

Elfreda House

 

A current Sheltered Housing property that was identified as requiring major modernisation. The current tenants have been carefully and collaboratively rehomed whilst the old building is demolished and redeveloped to provide a new, larger, fit for the future property.

Commercial development sites with affordable housing

 

Creffield Road

 

Creffield Road will see the renovation and conversion of a locally listed Victorian property. The resulting six apartments and two new 3-storey townhouses, will include two flats owned by the Council for affordable rental.

Mill Road

 

Mill Road will deliver 350 new homes as part of the Colchester Northern Gateway with 70% of homes for private sale and 30%, equalling 105 new affordable homes, retained in Council ownership.

St Runwald Street

 

St Runwald Street will see around 50-55 homes provided with a 70% market sales occupancy, and 30% affordable homes owned by the Council.

We continue to look at ways to expand our stock of affordable homes - working together with Colchester Amphora Homes Limited and Colchester Borough Homes.
