  • Colchester Castle - finished in late 1060s it is the largest Norman keep in Europe  
  • Holy Trinity church tower – the oldest surviving building in Colchester going back to Saxon times  
  • St Botolph’s Priory – Augustine monastery from 1099-1536 
  • St John’s Abbey Gatehouse – this was just the entrance to St John’s Abbey but now is all that is left standing 
  • 22 High Street – the site of the Colchester Hoard discovery, one of the most important medieval find of coins. It included English, Scottish and Irish coins as well as coins from across Europe
