Colchester City Council Housing Asset Management Strategy 2022 to 2027
The Council owns over 7000 homes (tenanted and leasehold) across Colchester, which are managed on a day-to-day basis, by Colchester Borough Homes, to deliver high quality services to residents and to continue to maintain the housing stock to a high quality, which ensures that residents live in well-maintained homes.
The Council in conjunction with Colchester Borough Homes have developed and produced this strategy that sets out the key priorities and the levels of investment that are planned over the next five years, together with considering the longer-term investment requirements, that link to the Housing Revenue Account (Business Plan).
The strategy broadly covers the following key areas
- Investing for the Future
- Keeping Your Home Safe and Secure
- Preparing for Climate Change
- Homes for Life
- Rethinking Use
The Council and Colchester Borough Homes are also responding to the emerging requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the requirements of the Social Housing White Paper which will involve meeting consumer standards and listening carefully to the views and requirements of our residents.
The Strategy will be reviewed on a regular basis during its life using the action plan developed as part of the strategy to monitor progress. The action plan will be regularly updated, to reflect changes that occur over the next five years.
