We are making a plan to support the use of electric vehicles in Colchester.

To understand the future demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and how this will impact owners, we are working with Energy Saving Trust on how electric vehicle charge points should be provided across Colchester. Learn more about the benefits of electric vehicles.  

The Essex Vehicle parking standards are currently being updated in partnership with Essex County Council and other Essex based local authorities to include guidance on electric vehicle charge points in new developments. 
 
We will be collaborating with Essex County Council to develop an electric vehicle strategy for Colchester. The draft electric vehicle charging point strategy is available here. Essex County Council have already installed a number of electric vehicle charging points across Essex.
