Electric vehicle charging points

Park and Charge with MiPermit

You can now pay to park and charge your electric vehicle in one quick and easy transaction using the MiPermit app. MiPermit Park + Charge combines paying to charge your vehicle with our existing cashless payment parking app.

Park + Charge follows a similar process to paying for your parking, however there is now the option to pay to charge your vehicle at selected locations in Colchester. You can also view whether a charging point is available to use or not by searching the MiPermit location number on the app.

Available Locations

Colchester is the first location in the UK to pilot the MiPermit Park + Charge system and we are in the process of installing a network of charging points in other car parks across the city.

The first EV charging points that use the MiPermit Park + Charge system have been installed in Priory Street Car Park

How it works?

  1. Scan the NFC, QR code or app clip on the Charge Point or search the location code in the MiPermit app to start the charging process.
  2. Enter your vehicle details and confirm that you would like to charge your electric vehicle.
  3. Select what charge point you are using and how long you would like to Park + Charge.
  4. Once you have successfully made the payment, the app will then connect to the Charging Point and you are ready to plug in your vehicle and start charging.
  5. To stop your charging session and disconnect your vehicle, you will need to follow your vehicles stop charging process.
  6. You will be charged for your Park + Charge session the following day.

How much does it cost?

Park + Charge for up to 4 hours (£0.25 per kWh). Standard parking tariff rates will apply and the maximum charge per charging point is 22kW.
