Colchester City Council has won a top national award for the quality of its addressing information – for the fourth year in a row.
The council is proud to have been awarded the GeoPlace Platinum Award, the highest status available, for excellence in its management of addressing information. The award highlights Colchester as an example of best practice and acknowledges its consistent high standards for managing this information.
The Platinum Award, introduced by GeoPlace in 2022, recognises the vital role that address and street data plays in supporting emergency services, delivering efficient public services, and enabling smarter planning and development. Colchester’s achievement places it among the top-performing authorities in England and Wales.
This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the council’s Digital team, whose efforts ensure that residents, businesses, and service providers benefit from reliable and accessible location data.
Councillor Chis Pearson, Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Transformation, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the GeoPlace Platinum Award for the fourth year in a row. This recognition reflects the professionalism and diligence of our officers, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our addressing data is of the highest standard. Accurate data underpins so many of the services we deliver, from waste collection to emergency planning, and this award highlights our commitment to excellence and innovation in public service.”
