Colchester’s Lower Castle Park is preparing to welcome approximately 65,000 visitors over two weeks this August, as it hosts a series of eight concerts from Thursday 14th to Monday 18th, and again from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd.
Beyond the music, the Summer Series is a major driver of local economic growth. Tourism contributes significantly to the town’s economy, with events like this generating increased footfall for local shops, restaurants, and hotels. The influx of visitors during the concert dates is expected to bring a surge in spending, supporting hundreds of local jobs and showcasing Colchester as a premier cultural destination.
During this time, Upper Castle Park remains open to the public, including the play area, café, and Colchester Castle. However, the slopes within the Upper Park will be restricted during event operational times but will be re-opened after the event.
Castle Park continues to be a valued venue for high-profile, well-managed events that bring significant cultural and economic benefits to Colchester. Organisers remain committed to balancing these benefits with the needs of local communities and residents.
