Grants to help pay off your energy debts

If you’re in debt to your energy supplier, you may be able to apply for grant to help pay it off.

The following energy suppliers offer grants to their customers:

If you can’t get a grant from your supplier, check if you can get a grant from the British Gas Energy Trust. These grants are available to anyone, you don’t have to be a British Gas customer.

Scam alert

There are a number of scams in operation relating to energy improvement grants. You will usually receive a call stating they have been instructed by Colchester City Council to conduct surveys on properties to check for energy efficiency improvement grant opportunities. All schemes we run have approved contractors and agents. We do not cold call any resident, the only time a resident will be contacted is if they have made an application directly to us.
