Energy efficiency grants

Find out if you could save money on your energy bills by improving the energy efficiency of your home. 

Current government grants available:

• Boiler Upgrade Scheme

• ECO4 Flex

This grant scheme is for owner-occupiers, private rental sector tenants and landlords, and for properties fuelled by all energy types (gas, electric, oil, LPG etc).

• Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2)

This grant scheme has identified potentially eligible properties that will be contacted directly by Colchester City Council.

This scheme is for owner-occupiers, private sector tenants and landlords, and is for off-gas heated properties (you do not use gas to heat your property).

• The Great British Insultation Scheme (GBIS)

This grant scheme is for owner-occupiers, private rental sector tenants and landlords, and for properties fuelled by all energy types (gas, electric, oil, LPG etc).

This scheme will be available to households with an income under £31,000.00 (specific eligibility criteria applies) and households with income over £31,000 (separate, specific eligibility criteria applies).

• Essex Energy Switch

The Essex Energy Switch is a group buying scheme for gas and electricity.

It brings people together in search of a better deal on their energy bills, this collective buying power helping to drive down prices offered. An auction is held where energy suppliers bid to offer the lowest energy tariff to residents.

There is no obligation for residents to accept the offered tariff if it isn't beneficial for you. The added bonus is that all energy suppliers must offer 100% renewable electricity.
