The Big Five at Cymbeline Meadows

A wildlife challenge for adults - Help the rangers find some of the more unusual and harder to spot wildlife around Colchester. – a big five safari for different countryside and park sites!

Cymbeline Meadows is a 74-ha area of working farmland comprising a rich variety of habitats including pastures, arable fields, meadows, woodland and the meandering river Colne.

Why not try to spot the following species?

  • Banded Demoiselle
  • Noctule Bat
  • Buzzard
  • Kingfisher
  • Black Poplar

Vehicular access is via Spring Lane onto Wet Lane, there are also four pedestrian entrances, two on Cymbeline Way (Avenue of Remembrance), one off of Bakers Lane following the PROW on the edge of Lexden Golf Club and one off of Bergholt Road following the PROW under the rail line subway.
