Background
Colchester was chosen as one of 101 towns who could bid for money from the government’s Towns Fund. In Colchester this is called the ‘We Are Colchester’ partnership.
The We Are Colchester partnership was launched in 2020. The Board, made up of a diverse range of organisations, was tasked with submitting the Colchester ‘Town Deal bid’ to government in October 2020.
Colchester was successful in its bid and awarded £18.2M in March 2021 to put towards a range of initiatives - to support inclusive economic growth, connectivity and quality of life in Colchester Town.
