Polling District and Polling Place Review
Overview
Local authorities are required by law to review all polling districts and polling places every five years to ensure suitability.Colchester’s previous polling districts and polling places review was completed in 2019. There are no proposals to change any electoral area boundaries as part of this review. The Colchester City Ward boundaries will be considered as part of a separate review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England. As such we are taking a light touch approach to our polling district and polling place review, with emphasis on finding the most suitable venues within existing polling district boundaries – rather than considering changing polling district boundaries.
These proposals were agreed by full council on Thursday 7 December 2023.
All correspondence sent to the (A)RO in connection with the review: Tendring District Council had no objections and Braintree District Council had no comment.
All representations made by any person in connection with the review are published in the report submitted to the Governance and Audit Committee meeting held on 28 November 2023.
