The chair will consider the request for a site visit but will then make their own decision on this based on the number of requests/time/priorities etc.
The Chairperson and Group Spokesperson of the Planning Committee have asked that Councillors be reminded that by calling in any application that Councillor should be prepared to attend the committee and expand upon their reasons for calling the application in.
The Planning Committee have also asked that Councillors be reminded that it is part of your role as a ward member to decide for yourself if there is any genuine merit in the Committee spending their time looking at the decision making on this application based on the material planning considerations they will be assessing. Items should NOT be called in solely because you are asked by a member of your electorate to do so on their behalf. Matters such as overlooking, loss of light and other neighbour amenity issues have clear policy guidelines as to when these will not be acceptable and the Committee will use the same guidelines as Officers.
In the event that you are unable to attend the Planning Committee meeting the Committee would ask you to do your best to make alternative arrangements for a representative from your party to speak on your behalf.
