Housing Benefit overpayments

Pay by Direct Debit

Set up a Direct Debit to make regular payments. 

You can make payments on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 25th of each month. You can choose which date best suits you.

If you need to tells us about a change in payment date and instalments, email benefits@colchester.gov.uk or call on 01206 282600.

Make a single payment online.

Pay over the phone

Call our automated payments line on 01206 282725. You will need your Housing Benefit invoice number and your debit or credit card details.

Setting up a standing order, paying at the bank or through your banking app

You can make a payment to us by setting up a standing order or through your bank or banking app. To do this quote our bank details below and your 8 digit Housing Benefit invoice number, which begins with the number 7, as a reference for the payment you are making.

Enter the bank account name as written below. You may encounter an error if you try to use a different bank account name.
