Support Colchester’s rich heritage during Remember a Charity Week

PUBLISHED: 8 September 2025

Today marks the start of Remember a Charity Week taking place between the 8-14 September. This important annual campaign raises awareness of the many wonderful charitable organisations across the country and how we can support them. One powerful way to contribute is by leaving a legacy through a charitable donation in your Will.

Colchester Museums Development Foundation was established four years ago and continues to inspire and enrich our local Colchester community, through the preservation, exploration and sharing of the city’s rich heritage.

Legacy gifts can help fund fascinating research, educational programs, and conservation efforts, ensuring the preservation of Colchester’s rich cultural heritage. By working together, we can keep Colchester's history alive and thriving for future generations.

There are many ways to support the foundation and make a difference in addition to a legacy gift. You could donate or symbolically adopt one of our precious objects. Object adoption is popular and makes a wonderful, sustainable gift! With prices online starting from just £10.

Councillor Lee Scordis, Portfolio Holder for Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Environment said: “Remember a Charity Week is a powerful reminder of the legacy we can leave behind. By choosing to include Colchester Museums in your Will, you help preserve the stories, artefacts, and heritage that define our city. Together, we can ensure that future generations continue to learn from and be inspired by Colchester’s rich and fascinating history.”
