The Mayor of Colchester, Councillor Michael Lilley, has announced the return of the city’s prestigious Oyster Feast, taking place on Friday, 24 October 2025 in the newly renovated Moot Hall at Colchester Town Hall.

The Oyster Feast is one of Colchester’s most historic and celebrated civic traditions, bringing together residents, dignitaries, and invited guests to honour the city’s rich maritime heritage. This year’s event promises an exceptional experience, featuring a five-course meal (oysters optional) prepared by Milsom Catering, fine wines provided by Mr.Wheeler, and an afternoon of entertainment.

Tickets are priced at £140 per person and will be allocated via a ballot system.

Residents wishing to enter the ballot can email mayorsoffice@colchester.gov.uk or submit a written application to: The Civic Officer, c/o Mayor’s Parlour, Town Hall, Colchester.

Alternatively, applications can be posted to: Colchester City Council, 33 Sheepen Road, Colchester CO3 3WG.

Applications close on Wednesday, 11 September. All entries will be included in the ballot for two tickets, unless the application specifies only one ticket is required. Successful applicants will be notified by Thursday, 18 September.

The Mayor of Colchester, Councillor Michael Lilley, said: “The Oyster Feast is a unique celebration of Colchester’s heritage and community spirit. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our city, welcome guests, and enjoy a tradition that has been part of Colchester’s story for centuries. I look forward to sharing this special occasion with residents in the beautifully restored Moot Hall.”

Further details, including guest speakers, will be announced in the coming weeks.
