Both Colchester Town Hall and the historic Colchester Castle have been nominated as finalists in two venue categories, ‘Something Different’ and ‘Heritage’ respectively, at the 2019 Essex Wedding Awards, with the finalists’ awards ceremony taking place in late November this year.
Built in baroque style at the turn of the 20th century, the Town Hall lies in the heart of Colchester's town centre and offers four grand, romantic rooms for wedding ceremonies.
Couples can hire a space for any size of ceremony, from the vast Moot Hall with its high arched ceiling to the ornate, church-like Council Chamber, the bright and intimate Community Room and the traditional Mayoral Suite.
This nomination is the latest success for the Town Hall since it was taken over by Colchester Events Company, following its recent achievement in reaching the top 10 civic halls in the UK to get married.
Colchester Castle also has several impressive spaces, including the ethereal Chapel with its high-vaulted white ceilings, and not forgetting the brand-new Secret Chapel located high on the Castle roof, boasting panoramic views of Colchester from the access walkway, as well as the spacious Charles Gray Room, mainly used for wedding breakfasts. The original stone floors and walls within the Castle itself, as well as numerous hidden staircases and archways are hugely popular for wedding photos with a difference for couples who book Colchester Castle!
Both exceptional venues host weddings of all sizes throughout the year.
