Regeneration of the City Centre

With a very challenging financial climate having the money needed to make big infrastructure changes is the biggest challenge Towns and Cities face. Big funding schemes are few and far between but two recent schemes, Town Deal and Levelling Up provided Colchester City with an opportunity not to be missed.

Over £40 million pounds has been successfully bid for giving us a superb opportunity for regeneration work in the City Centre, building on recent improvements such the Fenwick store, the new Primark store, Ultrafast gigabit broadband, an upgrade of the Priory Street car park, a new public space around The Mercury Theatre and 9 ‘Parklets’ in the High Street.
