Council building and facility closures
The following Colchester Borough Council buildings are closed to the public:
- All Leisure World Centres have reopened, but group fitness classes will not be operating until further notice. All activities must be booked before visiting Leisure Word.
- Aqua Springs Spa and a selection of beauty therapy treatments have re-opened, but the saunas, steam room, aromatherapy room and salt inhalation room remain closed. Visitors must book before visiting the spa.

- Town Hall
Sports grounds, skateparks and sports court
All our skateparks, ball courts and basketball courts are open. Find out more about how to meet others safely.
Allotments
Colchester Borough Council-owned allotments are open. If you are planning to visit your allotment, we ask you to follow the advice from The National Allotment Society.
Beach huts
Beach Huts in West Mersea are open, however, users must comply with the Government’s guidelines and social distancing rules to protect themselves and others from the spread of coronavirus. Pathways must not be obstructed, and there must be at least a two-metre clearance at all times.
Annual invoices were sent out and were adjusted to reflect the recent temporary closure.
The pontoon at West Mersea is currently restricted to boat users only, who should follow the Government’s guidelines and social distancing rules.

The eLibrary service will continue to be available 24/7.
Book of Remembrance and Prayer Room
The Book of Remembrance room is open weekdays from 9.30am to 4.15pm and 10.00am to 1.00pm on weekends and bank holidays from Saturday 24th July. We ask that only one family is in the room at any one time.
The Prayer Room remains closed.
