Colchester’s Visitor Information Centre – here to help

Colchester’s Visitor Information Centre (VIC), based in Hollytrees Museum in Colchester’s Castle Park, is the first port of call for many visitors to the town and is well known for providing useful information to tourists.

However, did you know it can also provide a valuable service to people who have lived in the town for many years, and help them rediscover many of the gems our beautiful city has to offer?

While the VIC is currently closed due the national lockdown restrictions, when it is open the team are happy to help with a range of requests from transport and local history enquiries, to even booking coach trips. With a packed gift shop selling Colchester themed souvenirs, you can take home something to remind you of the town!

Did you also know, when we are not in lockdown, the team runs weekly guided tours of Britain’s First City? The most popular walk is the Camulodunum to Colchester tour, which covers 2,000 years of history in Colchester. However, the qualified guides can always tailor a tour to the interests of your group!

While you can’t currently visit the VIC team in person, you can contact them and access their vast knowledge by engaging with them on social media @VisitColchester, visiting their website or emailing the team at vic@colchester.gov.uk
