Programme of entertainment planned to help people stay safe and stay local

Colchester Events is lining up an array of music, comedy and entertainment this summer and autumn to help give people something to look forward to post lockdown as well as enabling residents to stay safe and stay local.

Some of the biggest names are coming to Colchester, with John Bishop, Sarah Millican, Jason Manford, Ed Byrne and Daniel Sloss just some of the star-studded stand-ups scheduled to appear at Charter Hall.

Jason Donovan will be performing his biggest musical and pop hits at the venue, and modern-day explorers, Ben Fogle and Sir Ranulph Fiennes, will also be entertaining audiences with tales of their extreme adventures.

The summer is set to bring spectacular open-air events to Castle Park too, not least with the town’s first ‘Smoke and Fire Festival’, and Olly Murs’ homecoming tour in August. You can keep up-to-date via the What’s On section on Colchester Events website, and sign up to their newsletter.

As the country gradually recovers from the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic, the team at Colchester Events are keeping a close eye on Government guidelines to ensure the town’s venues can open safely when restrictions allow and support the local economy on the road to recovery.

At Colchester Weddings, the team have been supporting more and more couples to plan their perfect, if slightly smaller-scale, wedding day at Colchester Castle and the Town Hall. This spring, the team will unveil a grand new venue; the ‘Old Library’ at the Town Hall. This spacious and elegant location, with dedicated entrance way from West Stockwell Street, will be available to hire from the summer.
