Highways England: Notification of A12 roadworks

The schedule of work – update 27 November 2020

The works programme started on 29 September 2020 with an estimated completion date of 15 January 2021.

On Friday 4 December, contractors will complete the improvements to the southbound slip roads. This concludes the period of overnight road closures at this location. The works were not due to finish until 18 December and thanks to an increased workforce and no issues, they have completed two weeks ahead of schedule.

From Monday 7 December until Friday 18 December, work shall revert to the northbound on and off slip roads. For the safety of the public and workers, the northbound slip road will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) throughout this period. Once again, signed diversion routes will be in place.

Originally planned for two weeks in January and four weeks in April, this programme should ensure that these works complete this year with no other closures to the slip roads necessary in 2021.

The works will pause over the Christmas period from 18 December 2020 and only recommence upon the commissioning and delivery of lighting columns, expected in March 2021 (to be confirmed). These works should be off-peak during the day with a lane closure and traffic calming measures only and no slip or road closures.
