How long have you worked for the Council?

I have worked for the council for 36 years.

Why did you choose to work for the Council?

I wanted a job somewhere with good prospects and where staff were treated well. I was also aware that the Local Government Pension scheme was one of the best to join.

Describe what you do in 100 words?

I work predominantly in Planning, assisting Planning Officers with daily tasks, validating and processing planning applications, which can include works to trees, preliminary enquiries and enforcement, answering planning emails and phone calls and arranging agendas, collating documents and creating PowerPoint presentations for Planning Committee.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Each day is different, and the work varied.

Throughout your career at the Council, what has been your most rewarding moment?

Don’t really have one defining moment. Most of my career has been rewarding in one way or another and I enjoy helping people on a day-to-day basis.

What would you say to someone thinking about a career at the Council?

Do it. There is something for everyone.

Describe the Council in one word.
