Early Rollout from June
Colchester City Council will begin the early rollout of new collection service in selected areas from 1 June 2026.
Early roll out areas include:
Residents should start using their new bin or bins on their next scheduled collection after they receive them.
You can check your collection dates using the new calendar from the end of May 2026.
Early roll out areas include:
- Most existing urban black wheeled bin areas
- Some new urban and rural areas currently using sacks/boxes for recycling and non-recyclable rubbish
What this means for residents in early rollout areas
Standard properties
Wheeled bins will be introduced for standard properties in early rollout areas for:- Mixed recycling
- Non-recyclable waste
Residents should start using their new bin or bins on their next scheduled collection after they receive them.
You can check your collection dates using the new calendar from the end of May 2026.
Non-standard properties
Residents living in non-standard properties, which may not be suitable for wheeled bins, should continue using existing bags for recycling and non-recyclable rubbish.
From 1 June 2026, these residents can mix the following materials in their recycling bags:- Paper and card
- Plastics
- Tins and cans
