Cost of living support

Colchester City Council is providing support for residents facing the cost of living crisis.

Trees for Years

Colchester Council's Tree Giveaway

All venues and time slots are now fully booked.

Our annual ‘Trees for Years’ giveaway returns for its 16th year with a new way to get your hands on free trees. Fifteen thousand free native trees, shrubs and fruit bushes will be avaliable, chosen for their ability to promote wildlife and help our local bee population.

Now in its 16th year, the scheme has been made possible thanks to £2,000 sponsorship from idVerde, which works in partnership with the Council to maintain the City’s green spaces - and through funding from the Colchester Woodland and Biodiversity project.

How it works

To make it easier for residents to collect from nearby locations, we are introducing a Click and Collect system. You can select your trees (a maximum of three), collection point and time slot via an online form. Once you have submitted your application form, you will receive a confirmation email. You will need to show your confirmation email to your chosen collection point on arrival.

  • We recommend residents bring their own bags or container.
  • This scheme is only available to city residents with a Colchester postcode.
