eCargo bikes and trailers

The Council received a grant to buy 25 electric cargo (eCargo) bikes and 5 electric trailers. Alongside using some of these for our fleet operations, 10 organisations have been identified as ‘champions’ to use the eCargo bikes to replace cars and vans they previously used for their work. The eCargo bikes are a speedy, low carbon and active way to transport goods, and organisations in Colchester. You can apply to try them out on a short term loan.

Clean Air for Colchester

The main source of Colchester’s air pollution is exhaust fumes. The Clean Air for Colchester project aims to encourage residents to switch their vehicle engines off when stationary and to walk and cycle for more of their journeys. Improving air quality and getting people walking and cycling more will boost people’s health and well-being as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
