Street fixtures

What is managed by Colchester City Council 

We manage:

  • street/road name plates 
  • litter bins  
  • dog waste bins  
  • benches and seats on the pavement 
  • heritage bollards, for example the city shield sign 
  • signs for pedestrians 

Culver Street and Head Street bollards

We also manage the Culver Street and Head Street bollards (short posts preventing traffic from entering a road). These roads will be closed when the bollards are up.

We put the bollards up:

  • Monday to Thursday at 11am until 4pm.  
  • Friday and Saturday at 10am until 5pm.   

 Long Wyre Street bollard

We put the bollard up:

  • Monday to Saturday at 10am until 6pm.

What is managed by Essex County Council

Essex County Council manage: 

  • street lighting 
  • traffic signs  
  • bollards including lit up boards 
  • pedestrian guard rails  
  • public rights of way signs  
  • directional signs and posts 
  • traffic signals  
  • belisha beacons
