Severe weather update
Dry Recycling collections suspended
Due to extreme heat and an Amber Weather Warning issued by the Met Office, we have suspended dry recycling collections (paper, plastic, cans, and glass) scheduled for Tuesday 01 July 2025.
We ask households due a recycling collection on this date not to put out recycling or to bring it back in. Residents are asked to hold on to recycling until their next scheduled collection.
To prioritise crew safety and maintain essential services, collection vehicles will be redirected to support the collection of:
- non-recyclable waste
- Food waste
- garden waste
- business waste
With temperatures expected to exceed 30°C on Tuesday 01 July, this decision has been made to protect the health and wellbeing of our collection crews.
We aim to resume scheduled recycling collections from Wednesday 02 July, subject to a forecasted drop in temperatures.
Do not:
- call our contact centre if your bin or containers are not collected
- report a missed bin – this collection is cancelled and will not bbe rescheduled. Hold on to your recycling until your next scheduled collection.
Help us to reach as many residents as possible and pass this information on to as many friends, family members and neighbours.
We will continue to monitor the weather conditions over the coming days, and we will update and advise more if needed.
To see your next scheduled collection day check your recycling calendar.
