Notice of Review

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with Section 18C of the Representation of the People Act 1983 Colchester City Council (the Council) is to carry out a review of its polling districts and polling places. 

The (Acting) Returning Officer (ARO) for the Parliamentary constituencies of Colchester, Harwich and North Essex and Witham will comment on the proposals. 

Any elector or organisation within Colchester is invited to make representations concerning either the existing or proposed arrangements. 

The Council particularly welcomes any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability to comment on the Council’s proposals or the recommendations of the Acting Returning Officer. 

Anybody making representations should, if possible, give alternative places that may be used as polling places.

Comments and representations should be submitted by email to elections@colchester.gov.uk or by:

• Post to Electoral Services, Colchester City Council, Rowan House, Colchester, CO3 3WG;
• Hand to Colchester Town Hall, High Street, Colchester, CO1 1PJ.

All representations must be made by no later than 13 November 2023

• The outcome of the review will be published by the Council in December and will be available for inspection on the Council's website.
• Anybody making representations should be aware that, upon completion of the review, all correspondence and representations received must, by law, also be published.
