There’s nothing better than fresh air, friends and a warm welcome wherever you go, is there? We all need a little community nourishment and Colchester City Council is committed to helping you get back to what you love.

We’re helping residents, shoppers, visitors and businesses get back to what they love by providing hand sanitisers in busy places, widening cycle and footpaths and asking businesses to provide quiet shopping hours.

Feel like some fresh air?

Why not go for a walk or cycle and put some colour in your cheeks? When was the last time you cycled down to Wivenhoe or took a walk in Castle Park? Get some fresh air at the local park or simply enjoy a stroll down your local high street.

Want more culture in your life?

Why not get back to the magic of the arts? Let your imagination drift at the cinema or learn something new at a museum or heritage centre. Our city is packed with cultural offerings, if you feel like discovering something new, get some inspiration.

Fancy hitting the shops?

Shopping in person means you can get gifts wrapped, support independent businesses, chat with staff, and have a coffee on the way home. There are so many shopping delights in the city, from antiques to boutiques, get out and rediscover your local gems.

Want someone else to cook?

Whatever flavours you fancy you’re sure to find them in the town centre and in your local community. Rediscover different dishes by eating out. Or what about coffee with friends, open air markets and local delicacies? Nothing beats a slice of cake from your local bakery and date night’s just not the same at home – so why not share the dining out experience and make your day.
