Commenting on applications

To make an objection or comment on any of the applications, use our online register of licences and applications.

Your representation should be specific to the premises concerned and should address the likely impact of the application on the promotion of the licensing objectives which are -

  • the prevention of crime and disorder
  • public safety
  • the prevention of public nuisance
  • the protection of children from harm

The Council is not able to consider the need for the premises licence when determining an application.

If you representation is accepted as being relevant, it will be sent to the applicant together with any other representations received.  This provides the applicant with the opportunity to address the points raised.

We are required to provide a full copy of your representation including your name and address.  Your representation will also be included in the paperwork for the Licensing Sub-Committee Hearing which will be public and available on the Council’s website.

There is an exception to the requirement to disclose personal details and this is when you are concerned that the disclosure of such details will result in you being a victim of intimidation to the extent that you would fear for your safety and that of those living with you.  If this is the case, please make this known in your representation.

It is an offence to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in connection with an application and the maximum fine for which a person is liable on summary conviction for the offence is unlimited.
