Direct debit collections
Face-to-face fundraising in Colchester town centre
The council has a Site Management Agreement with the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association. This helps ensure fundraising is carried out responsibly and balances the needs of charities with the rights of the public.
When and where fundraising is allowed:
- Direct debit collections are permitted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 9am and 7pm.
- Locations:
- High Street (between St Nicholas Street and North Hill / Head Street)
- Culver Street West (between Trinity Street and Head Street)
- A maximum of 6 fundraisers are allowed across both streets, with no more than 4 on any single street.
How to apply
- The calendar of collections is managed by the Institute of Fundraising.
- If you want to collect in Colchester, you must contact them.
- Fundraisers collecting by direct debit must follow the Code of Fundraising Practice.
