Pavement licences​

You must have a pavement licence if you run a business that sells food or drink and you want to place tables and chairs on the pavement.

What the licence covers

• The furniture must be removable.
• It must be used for the sale or consumption of food or drink.
• A licence can only be granted if the land is part of the public highway.
• If the land is privately owned, a pavement licence is not required.

Licence duration

A pavement licence lasts for 2 years from the date it is granted.
