The Thunderbird Years: An evening of 1960's Film and TV Music

Prepare to be transported back in time with Colchester Castle's upcoming musical extravaganza, The Thunderbird Years. Taking place on the evening of 6 June, the historic walls of Colchester Castle will reverberate with the iconic sounds of 1960s film and TV music, performed live by the talented local Abbeygate Concert Band.

Doors will open at 6.45pm so guests can soak up the atmosphere, grab a drink from the bar and explore the Thunderbirds and Co: The Joy of Puppetry exhibition before the concert begins at 7.15pm. Seating will be spread around the castle galleries, strategically positioned to offer an immersive musical experience like no other. All you need to do is sit back and enjoy the journey through the unforgettable melodies that defined an era.

From the unmistakable theme tunes of cult classics like Thunderbirds and other Gerry and Sylvia Anderson shows, prepare to be swept away on a wave of nostalgia. The Abbeygate Concert Band musicians are poised to breathe new life into these timeless compositions, delivering an evening for all to enjoy.
 
Cllr David King, Leader of Colchester City Council, said: “The council supports arts, culture and our heritage, and it is great when they can come together in the great setting of the castle museum. This concert promises something for everyone – a memorable musical journey back in time.”
