Colchester Market open for Late Wednesday shopping

PUBLISHED: 29 November 2021

Colchester Market will spread some festive cheer in a series of late-night shopping events in the run up to Christmas.

The market, with stalls on Culver Street West and Lion Walk shopping centre, will be open for Late Wednesday, with shopping until 8pm from 8 December to 22 December.

There will be boutique stalls serving tasty treats from local and regional suppliers along with some great gift ideas and quirky stocking fillers.

Plus, lots of Late Wednesday entertainment and live music across the town centre including roaming Elves, North Pole Post Office, a giant colouring wall, special market stalls on Crouch Street and Balkerne Gate, and roaming entertainers, all organised by Colchester’s Business Improvement District (BID).

Cllr Beverley Oxford, Portfolio Holder for Communities at Colchester Borough Council, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing our regular and new market stallholders trading for the Late Wednesday events this year. The evenings are also the best time to see the Christmas lights and discover the special unit installations that will be dressed up as the North Pole Post Office and an interactive Elfie station.”

Late Wednesdays are an unmissable event in the town centre and the perfect after school treat for the Kids with free parking after 3pm.

Park for FREE after 3pm in all council owned town centre car parks on Wednesdays 8, 15 and 22 December 2021. Register your parking stay with MiPermit to claim the offer. View the council’s Christmas parking offers here.
