Colchester Borough Council has been awarded £1 million from the Accelerated Town Deal and this money will be used to create two new public spaces at Balkerne Gate outside the Mercury Theatre, and St Nicholas Square.
St Nicholas Square is situated at the eastern side of the town centre and redesigning it to create a beautiful new space where people can meet, eat outside, visit new market stalls and attend events is a great opportunity to bring this area of town to life.
Some early concept plans for the area were created in 2018 and we have appointed local award-winning architects HAT Projects to work up their original scheme.
