St Botolph’s Open Day and Market 21st September 10am – 5pm.

The popular Colchester Heritage Open Days Weekend returns to Colchester for 2019 and as part of it we are inviting residents to come and discover the hidden gem that is St Botolph’s Priory.

We are holding a FREE Open Day and Market on Saturday 21st September between 10am and 5pm.

With a family-friendly atmosphere, in a beautiful historic setting, you can try delicious street-food, listen to the Chosen Vessels Gospel Choir, meet 2 historical Colcestrian figures who will tell stories including the history of the Priory, information stands and much more.

St Botolph’s Priory was founded between 1093 and 1100, the priory of St Julian and St Botolph was one of the first religious houses in England to adopt Augustinian rule. This initially gave it authority over other houses of that order in the country to correct abuses, inflict punishments and prescribe regulations. Find out more here
