There is no known danger associated with ingesting asbestos fibres arising from asbestos cement storage tanks or water supply pipes.

Removal and disposal of Asbestos 

If it becomes necessary to remove or work on asbestos materials you must make sure that you have taken sufficient precautions to reduce the risks. 

Small quantities of domestic bonded asbestos, for example shed or garage roofing or guttering, can be dismantled and disposed of by a licensed contractor. A current list of licensed contractors is available at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website link below.  

Alternatively, householders may dismantle it themselves by following the guidance on the HSE website link below.
