The fee depends on the type of application you are submitting.

Archaeology Advice
 

Category A

  • Development is a single dwelling, garage/ cart lodge, extension or other small development*
  • Monitoring/ Watching Brief - £378.89 (incl VAT)
  • Evaluation - £477.73 (incl VAT)
  • Excavation - £477.73 (incl VAT)

*A programme of archaeological monitoring (watching brief) is normally required when the development is an extension to an existing residential property, without the need for evaluation or excavation.

An evaluation (and depending on the results of this evaluation, an excavation) is normally only required when the development is a new dwelling.
 
Category B

  • Development of a historic building (demolition and/or conversion)
  • Monitoring/ Watching Brief - £378.89 (incl VAT)

Category C

  • Development is two dwellings or more and covers less than 1.0ha in area
  • Monitoring/ Watching Brief - £378.89 (incl VAT)
  • Evaluation - £477.73 (incl VAT)
  • Excavation - £642.46 (incl VAT)

Category D

  • Development is between 1.0ha and 3.0ha in area
  • Evaluation - £642.46 (incl VAT)
  • Excavation - £897.80 (incl VAT)

Category E

  • Development is between 3.0ha and 10.0ha in area
  • Evaluation - £897.80 (incl VAT)
  • Excavation - £1,350.84 (incl VAT)

Category F

  • Development is over 10.0ha
  • Request a quote

We will provide you with a brief within 10 working days from receipt of application. A brief remains valid for six months.

A "fast track" brief can be provided within 3 working days for an additional 50% on top of the standard fee.

A further charge is applicable if a brief expires and has to be re-issued.

Comments on standard reports are made within 30 days of submission of the relevant documentation or by negotiation for major projects.

Where a WSI or report fails to meet required standards and / or substantive changes are required additional charges are made at the standard rate of £50.00 per hour.

Historic Environment Record (HER)

  • Standard Search (Up to 75 records) - £99.44 (incl VAT)
  • Extended Search (75 to 150 records) - £200.09 (incl VAT)
  • Large scale/complex search (>150 records) - Request a quote

We will provide you with results from a HER search within 10 working days from receipt of application.

A "fast track" search can be provided within 3 working days for an additional 50% on top of the standard fee.
