The Council had commenced consultation on the Tiptree Neighbourhood Plan earlier this year for an intended six-week period from 20 April to 1 June 2020.
On 30 April 2020, this consultation was withdrawn following the consideration of concerns raised regarding the lawfulness of undertaking the consultation. Physical inspection of the consultation documents could not be arranged as a result of the restrictions placed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
An update to the Neighbourhood Planning Practice Guidance on 13 May 2020, this provides further guidance for LPAs confirming that physical inspection of documents is not mandatory and alternative options to view the documents can be arranged.
The consultation on the Tiptree Neighbourhood Plan has recommenced and will run for seven weeks from 22 June 2020 to 10 August 2020.
This consultation has been arranged in a manner to comply with Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 and considering the updates made to the Neighbourhood Planning Practice Guidance, the Coronavirus Act 2020 and The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020.
The Tiptree Neighbourhood Plan sets out the planning framework about how Tiptree residents and businesses would like the parish to develop over the next 15 years up to 2033.
In order to provide clarity and transparency of the Council’s decision-making process regarding this consultation, the Council have prepared a consultation proposal which continues to remain a live document and will be revised accordingly in light of further changes and options which may become available through updated Government guidance.
More information on the background to the Tiptree Neighbourhood Plan and further supporting documents are available on Tiptree Parish Council’s website.
