You can find out if you qualify for Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support by using the online calculator. If you qualify you will be able to continue to apply for the benefit(s) you are entitled to.
If you are working age (currently 15 - 64), live within the postcode areas CO6 2 or CO8 5 and you need financial help to pay your rent you will need to apply for Universal Credit, instead of Housing Benefit.

Universal Credit is being introduced in Colchester using a phased approach. It is planned that Universal Credit will be fully introduced in Colchester in July 2018.

Once we have finished processing your application we send you an award letter confirming the amount of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support you will receive.
