Mayor to read the Proclamation of King Charles III on Town Hall steps

The Mayor of Colchester, Cllr Tim Young, will read the Proclamation of the accession of King Charles III, at a ceremony on the steps of Colchester Town Hall, on Sunday.

This reading follows the reading of the Principal Proclamation of the new king, which takes place at a meeting of the Accession Council at St James’s Palace, and a 21-gun salute in Lower Castle Park at 11am tomorrow (10 September).


Members of the press and public are welcome to attend and witness this historic event outside the Town Hall at 2pm on Sunday, 11 September.

The Mayor, Cllr Tim Young, said: “It will be an honour to read this historic Proclamation, which will be a unique moment in the history of our nation and borough.

“I would invite members of the public to join me outside the Town Hall for this momentous occasion.”
