With just over fourteen weeks to Christmas Santa’s elves have been in touch with Colchester Castle and arranged for Santa to make some festive visits to the Castle this coming December.

With the help of Santa’s elves, Colchester Castle will be sprinkling plenty of Yuletide magic and setting up a magical Christmas Grotto in the castle’s Lucas Vaults, creating a stunning festive atmosphere for families to visit.

Visits to Santa cost £6.50 and children will receive a gift and the opportunity to whisper their Christmas dreams into a shell for the Castle’s Wishing Tree with the festive elves.*

Why not combine seeing Santa with a trip to the Castle and save 10% on normal admission rates? Plus, receive a FREE Christmas trail activity sheet as well as the opportunity to enter our prize draw for the chance to win a VIP guided tour of the Castle’s major NEW exhibition which will open in July 2019.

The Grotto will be open on the 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd December. For group bookings or for special requirements, please call 01206 282939 to discuss arrangements with our friendly team.

Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “Colchester Castle is a stunning building which over the festive period takes on a rather special ambience. In my opinion, it makes for one of the most magical places to see Santa in Colchester!

“I would highly recommend combining your visit to the grotto with a trip to the Castle and for residents to pick up an annual Resident Pass. It promises to be a very special Yuletide visit for all the family.

“Bookings are now open and places are strictly limited – so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment, as Santa has a very busy diary!

“Events like this help support the work Colchester Museums do to preserve our rich heritage for generations to come and build a Better Colchester.”
