Colchester Borough Council’s Mill Pond Car Park in Dedham is now temporarily closed until 4 December 2020, while it is used as a compound by Suffolk County Council for major bridge works.This car park closure is to support Suffolk County Council’s essential major bridge maintenance on the nearby B1029 Dedham Road Bridge. Mill Pond Car Park will be used by the County Council as a compound area, which is the most suitable location that has direct access to the bridge and water course.
Motorists in Dedham can take advantage of great value parking at the nearby Mill Lane Car Park in Dedham and are encouraged to make contactless parking payments using MiPermit.
Councillor Mike Lilley, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure. However, Suffolk County Council needs to complete these essential bridge works and using the car park as a compound is the best solution.
"We would encourage motorists to park legally and considerately and make use of the nearby and much larger Mill Lane Car Park, which will remain open throughout this period. Due to coronavirus, we are also encouraging motorists to make contactless payments in all our car parks where possible.”
