Halloween At The Castle brings goose bumps, chills on the back of your neck and ghoulish fun to October half term – and with children enjoying half price entry what are you waiting for?
Is Colchester Castle haunted? Is that just a ghost or your imagination? With more than 2000 years of history to explore, who knows? Join us, and ghosts from the past, and take part in our Halloween fun. Enjoy a spooky interactive trail and discover the Castle’s secrets with a smelly ‘History Stinks’ tour – phew!! Come along, explore the Castle and enjoy a truly spooktacular time.
But that’s not all – across the week we have bags of family friendly events and activities across Colchester Museums sites to suit everyone.
From the ultimate family-friendly Roman-themed sleepover at the Castle, to spooky storytelling and dark terrifying tours (we suggest these are for age 14+).
For the younger members of the family who don’t want such a fright, we have crystal skull craft sessions as well as creepy crawlies at the Natural History Museum, to keep them amused! We like to think things that go bump in the night aren’t always that scary, so come along and meet some of nature’s sometimes-misunderstood creatures at one of our ever-popular Go-Live sessions!
Don’t forget the Castle’s brand-new jewellery exhibition, Adorn: Jewellery, The Human Story, is now open and included in Castle admission. Children can grab a fun explorer backpack and head off through 3,000 years of history. With plenty to look at, including Roman jewellery from Pompeii and some of the oldest gold objects from Britain, it’s bound to be a hit with the whole family.
Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council said: “If you're feeling brave this Halloween join us at Halloween At The Castle for plenty of spooks, tricks and treats, in what’s bound to be a fun-packed week for the whole family.”
