October Half Term brings a host of fun activities to Colchester Museums – from the super spooky to the frighteningly fascinating!
At Colchester Castle, become master detective Sherlock Bones and uncover the secrets of how bones can help unlock clues to the past with fascinating osteoarchaeology sessions.
Head across the road to the Natural History Museum and prepare to tickle those funny bones with some weird and wonderful story-telling sessions packed full of rib-tickling tales.
If it’s a truly gruesome experience you’re after, then Spooktacular Skulls is for you. Sessions running at Hollytrees Museum will take inspiration from the museum collections to craft your very own spooky clay skull. Make it as ghoulish as you dare!
For those brave enough, head to Colchester Castle after-hours and join a dark tour to uncover the grim deeds of Colchester’s grizzly past!
Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “There are some fantastic spooktacular sessions available this Half Term and I would like to encourage families to come along to Colchester’s museums this holiday and get involved.
“Plus, with a great mix of cutting edge technology and interactive exhibits in the Castle, there is plenty of fun to be had whatever the weather.”
Colchester Museums would like to encourage visitors to the town’s museums to learn more about the history and heritage of the town through Better Colchester.
